Bug Description

Clock applet on hardy beta shows unnecessary error message.

Steps to reproduce it:

1- Add the clock applet to a gnome panel
2- Right click on the applet
3- Adjust date & time
4- Change date to some date in the future
5- Click "Set system time"

Error message appears:
"Failed to set the system time
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

The date is changed nonetheless. When I change the date back to a past date the message doesn't appear.

Don't know if it's related to bug #191471 or not.

Thank you for your bug report. I don't confirm this issue on hardy

what version of gnome-panel do you use? do you get the error every time you try?

It's gnome-panel 2.22.0-0ubuntu2. I get the error every time (as said, when I move the date forward, not when I move it backward).

Tomorrow evening I'll be back home and will try with the hardy beta live cd to see if just something happened when I upgraded (like some other bugs I have now which don't happen with the livecd so when I reinstall the computer from scratch they will probably be gone.)

unconfirming for now, I don't get the issue, note that the gnome-panel has been changed to use time-admin today so the bug will not be an issue on hardy now

I checked it again with the hardy beta livecd and it also happens there.

It's maybe Macbook related cause I'm running it on a Macbook pro and I get the same issue on my girlfriend's Macbook.
