[maverick] Software Center search function broken

Bug Description
Binary package hint: software-center
When searching for programs, the search results box is blank. The busy cursor is displayed and search results are never shown.
Note that this error only occurs when searching from the main category screen. All other views work fine.
WORKAROUND:
Do one of the following:
1. Expand the "Get Software" item in the left panel and choose "Provided by Ubuntu" (or other child item if desired), and do the search from there.
- or -
2. Choose an individual category that you want to search in from the Departments panel and do the search from that view.
