Bug Description

Binary package hint: kile

with Karmic package, when kile is launched, the tools toolbar displays only quickpreview icons and skip the rest (in my case, pdflatex, bibtex, viewpdf, separators and pstopdf). Each time I launch Kile, I have to go in the Configure Toolbars panel, change something in the Tools toolbar to activate the apply button, apply and then the whole toolbar appears.
Version : 1:2.1.0~svn1014763beta2-1ubuntu1

Same problem here.
My "tools" toolbar is customized, I don't have any "quickpreview" button, so when I run kile the toolbar is shown empty!!! very annoying.

In order to show the toolbar, I follow the same procedure of ptitpoul.
On the other side, if I do: right click on toolbar -> toolbars -> tools (so that the toolbar disappears), and then again right click on toolbar -> toolbars -> tools, the toolbar appears empty again.

same version: 1:2.1.0~svn1014763beta2-1ubuntu1

I've made another experiment.
I deleted both ~/.kde/share/config/kilerc and ~/.kde/share/apps/kile/kileui.rc
This makes kile "fresh", every setting is restored as default
Then, I changed something inside the "tools" toolbar, and also inside the "main" toolbar.

Result:
(i) there is no difference among the 2 toolbars
(ii) kile remembers /almost/ every change I do to the toolbars
(iii) the only buttons that are not displayed are the tools buttons (latex, pdflatex, viewpdf, so on)

A workaround (that I don't like) is to give up to the buttons "Latex", "pdflatex", ... and use the button "with popup menu"

some problem here.

additionally, i get a lot of crash reports when i restart kile:
Executable: kile PID: 9768 Signal: 11 (Segmentation fault)

In Jaunty, kile was not very stable, but usable. now i upgraded to Karmic, hoping that these instabilities are fixed. but kile just seems to have gotten worse...

which brings up the same question that has been asked before:

Why is a very unstable beta the DEFAULT install of kile???? Most people that use kile don't want to play around with it, they actually WORK with it, and so they need a stable program that works.

Thanks.

I tried again today, and i could not reproduce the crashes today. I don't know why.

(trying to get a work-around, i found another small bug (484277), it might be related, but I don't think it is the same bug.)

This bug was fixed in the package kile - 1:2.1.0~svn1079982-0ubuntu1

---------------
kile (1:2.1.0~svn1079982-0ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * New upstream svn snapshot including beta3.
    (LP: #409581, #432931, #429336, #267113, 476860, 427538)
  * debian/control: Recommend firefox instead of iceweasel to have it look like
(konqueror | firefox); on default Ubuntu kile will then no longer install
    konqueror. (LP: #452079)
  * debian/rules: Use override_dh_compress to not compress index.docbook.
