Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-main-menu

I tried to install gnome-main-menu (sudo apt-get install gnome-main-menu), the result was the following:

Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
  gnome-main-menu: Depends: libgail-common (>= 1.10.1) but it is not going to be installed
                   Depends: libgail18 (>= 1.10.1) but it is not going to be installed
                   Depends: libslab0 but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

The dependencies on libgail packages seem cause the problem...

Source package depends on libgnome-desktop-dev, which depends on libgnome-gui-dev and it depends on libgtk2-dev, and this last package replaces libgail-dev...

I don't know which package requires libgail-dev... I's very complicated...

Please check your repositories, Im using intrepid too and this bug doesnt appear in my system. It could be that you need to wait a little for those packages.

Yes, gnome-main-menu needs to be rebuilt since libgail18 is now obsoleted. We need to wait for the new version to be packaged though (see bug 234769), since this also includes support for nm 0.7 which is now in intrepid.

    + Rewrite to bring in alignment with actual code
    + Use proposed machine-parsable copyright format
  * Add README.Source
  * Add watchfile
