Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Situation:

I've got installed the package which provides an "open-terminal here" functionality for folders.

If Symbol-View is choosen, I can right-click into the empty space between the symbols to open the context menu for that current folder. There it is also possible to create a new folder.

Problem:

I use the List-View most of the time. Using that, I cannot find any empty space to right-click on for opening the desired popup menu for the current folder. All I can get is the file-based popupmenu.

Solution:

Workaround: The menu per-folder is accessible via the File-Menu.

Better solutions: Make the Popupmenu for the current folder accessible in a better way. Perhaps you can merge it with the File-Menu. Or make it available when clicking on folders in the treeview.

I am now (3.8.0-26-generic, nautilus 3.6.3) experiencing the same problem: Only in icon view I can open a context menu with "new directory"; in the list view I get only the concerning file's menu.
The mentioned work-around does not work for me: The "File" menu in the menu bar does not contain a "new directory" (or "create directory") item either.
It's not a permission problem; the icon view gives me a "new directory", and in the shell I could create the directory without problems.

By the way, this upstream bug[1] has been reported on the issue. You can get the right context menu with the gear icon, but I admit it's unintuitive.
