There's something else interesting happening. I've seen 3 separate posts on wubi users that only have Windows in their grub menu after a fresh installation. They were quite consistent that they went from the windows boot manager to the grub menu, and only windows + recovery partition were present. Unfortunately I couldn't get a bootinfoscript to see what was up. e.g. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1547207

Then I saw a post from user who had done a regular installation (no wubi), with a similar problem. This time there was a bootinfoscript and it shows grub installed to the windows partition (the bootloader looks to the windows partition, and core.img and grub.cfg are in the windows partition). They also had only windows in the grub menu when booting. Interestingly there was a wubildr and wubildr.cfg on the windows partition, but the user was quite categorical that they did not use wubi. I suspect that the user made an error when reinstalling grub2, but it's quite a strange result. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1549204

I don't know if they're related, but thought I'd put it out here anyway. Since this thread is wubi+grub related.
