I can confirm that the issue seems to be a general Windows problem experienced with other ISO extracting tools as well (see for instance http://www.google.com/search?q=iso+%22The+parameter+is+incorrect%22+%22Incorrect+function%22 ). A bad medium seems to be one of the reasons, it is puzzling that the error usually happens at the end of the process though.

If no other solution can be found, we might want to trap the errors and display a clearer message.

A workaround is to only copy the squashfs filesystem as opposed to extract the full ISO (we already do md5sum check for it). This requires changes to casper though. See bug #230716
