Right - recall that I am testing on i386 as I don't have mako/maguro :)

However, note that on Touch, the upstart code in unity8 (plugins/Unity/Indicators/indicatorsmanager.cpp) is almost identical to the upstart code in unity-panel-service (unity/services/panel-service.c).

Is it possible to somehow disable the loading of /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/unity8/qml/Unity/Indicators/libIndicatorsQml.so in the unity8-private package on mako/maguro to see if that stops the memory bloat?
