rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/flashplugin-nonfree.prerm
dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq flashplugin-nonfree
dpkg --purge --force-remove-reinstreq flashplugin-nonfree

Worked for me too with version 9.10
This was hours of frustration. I appreciate your help.
