I have recreated this issue using the Edubuntu AMD64 daily build from 20080201.1. The system I tested on has a nVidia Corporation GeForce 8300 GS with PCI ID [10de:0423]. I was unable to see any usplash output when choosing "Start or Install" and "Check CD for defects" from the CD's boot menu.

My monitor was connected via DVI. Has anyone recreated this issue with a VGA connection using a Hardy Alpha CD?
