Comment 8 for bug 250524

After installing apt-xapian-index on Intrepid system, and restarting of Synaptic, I get rebuilding index. After a few minutes it pops back to Quick Search and I have the expected functionality.

If this is to be an option, it would make more sense to me to have the dialog box invisible, rather than simply grayed out. I'd rather expect it to be installed by default if at all possible with Ubuntu.
