I got exactly the same problem. The computer is unsable with the kernel 2.6.32 the screen goes black in the middle of the boot process. WIth the old kernel 2.6.31 everything work as it should and if I use the 2.6.34 rc kernel the computer boots OK but after 10 minutes the screen goes black.
I have tried all your advices. If I use the i915=0 or=1 the boot works but the screen flicker constantly.
