Up to date Karmic, this still happens. On resume, I lose the window decorator and the desktop doesn't seem to work, but I still can change Virtual Desktops when I rotate the mouse.
Also happens in a fully up-to-date Jaunty with X-edgers ppa. In Jaunty I solved it by using some PPA packages that work (from a past update, which I saved) and, indeed, one of the files is libgl1-mesa-dri-7.5 instead of 7.6. Then I disabled the PPA.
