Note that my framebuffer is larger than default because I have two monitors (internal LCD + external CRT), though this issue occurs on LCD only too. Both running at 1024x768

Well I got it to happen again, everything updated/upgraded as of about 15 minutes ago. Switched back over to xserver- xorg-video- intel (from xserver- xorg-video- intel-2. 4) rebooted, followed the instructions at https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/X/Troublesh ooting/ Freeze# How%20to% 20Get%20a% 20Batchbuffer% 20Dump% 20(-intel% 20only)
