The flickering is still there because the most recent Ubuntu driver fails to include the "38_no_pipe_for_hotplug.patch" or that matter has failed to include git commit 7b6f4d22211d71480caf6335a3eacaacff369371 (http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel.git;a=commit;h=7b6f4d22211d71480caf6335a3eacaacff369371).
