I have been having the same issue.

X3100, T61 Thinkpad
8.04, KDE 3.5
2.6.24-21-generic
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.2.1-1ubuntu13.8

00:02.1 Display controller [0380]: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a03] (rev 0c)

Any 3D app crashes X. Have to restart.

Relavent Syslog:

I included my Xorg.0.log.old

I cannot dist-upgrade. If there is a fix in Intrepid and Jaunty, then the updates should be added to Hardy repos. (LTS)
A few weeks ago I tried compiling the latest from Intel but X would not start. Can I get the newest Intel Drivers from Jaunty and install them in hardy? Can I add the Intrepid and Jaunty repos just to get the xserver stuff and then remove the extra repos?
