Just so people know, there doesn't seem to be any need to update the display driver, just mesa and the DRI driver (and libdrm). Unfortunately, current git master has a pretty massive bug that breaks display of textures when auto-generation of mip-maps is used: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17077 (there are more cases than I've reported in that bug, but that's the only very easily reproducible one)
I have updated packages at http://chrislord.net/files/mesa-bits/ anyway - warning, these are compiled with only the intel drivers (no ati/sis/etc.) - If you install these, upgrades won't break and it'll probably upgrade to intrepid ok, but it may not :)
