I had Compiz enabled when I tested this change, and it seemed to work fine for the few minutes I had it enabled. I then turned off Compiz, and then could not turn it back on ("no drivers"). That's fine by me, but folks who want their eye candy may have problems.
Comment 13 also fixed my problem, https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ network- manager- applet/ +bug/467749, which I incorrectly assigned to NM. The computer is a Lenovo R51, http:// www.charlescurl ey.com/ Lenovo. R51.html. The display does seem a bit slower, but not enough to be a problem.
