Please re-test with the 6.11.0 driver in Jaunty and post a fresh Xorg.0.log from that attempt. Also attach any files in your /var/log/gdm/:0.log* that have error messages. We'll need the output of `lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.txt` as well.

R600 support in -ati is pretty new and still incomplete, although by 6.12.0 should be better. -radeonhd might be a better choice for the time being.

This is not something that can be fixed for Intrepid; you'll have to just stick with -fglrx there.
