I have got the same problem:
"1. Mouse detect: Ubuntu Warty Live cd does not recognize mouse. mdetect suggests
/dev/psaux intellimouse. First mdetect needs mouse to be moved during install.
Second - rmmod psmouse and rmmod mousedev before running mdetect."

rmmod psmouse works, but rmmod mousedev shows the message:
"Module mousedev is in use"
what can I do ... something like kill?
