I also had te problem thet Wireshark froze up on selecting interface "Capture Interface" window.
I then removed Wireshark from packagemanager (ubuntu Hardy Alpha6), and reinstalled via Terminal with : "sudo apt-get install wireshark" .. then it worked without freezing up ...
