I also have the same problem. It lasts about 30 seconds and dies every time.
I have all the latest Feisty updates as of 03/29/2007

vpnc/feisty uptodate 0.4.0-2ubuntu1

A few weeks ago everything worked fine.

To the same server:
WindowsXP default VPNC client works fine.
Cisco Client for my Mac works fine.
Default Mac client won't connect at all.
