This is indeed a quite "unusual" user and group id. However, I do not believe
that this is actually a pmount fault, I rather think you have a faulty
/etc/fstab entry for this DVD.
Can you please attach your /etc/fstab here? Also, I need the output of the
following commands (executed as normal user):
id spotter
pmount -d /dev/hdc # (or hdb, or whatever your CD-ROM drive is)
