It seems to be a different issue but could you please try these commands?
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Then reboot and maybe you are lucky. Otherwise I would change the driver to vesa and restart X. Please don't forget that Hardy is an alpha version.
