The patch worked perfect for me! For both my DVD-ROM IDE drive and my SATA DVD+RW. Look at what I said here (post #27):

I hope I wrote that right. The only thing I haven't tried is an "integrity test" with Brasero, but I've tried adding data to RW's, ejecting both blank and written discs, I've rebooted and all still seems well!
