Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

Under the Password and Encryption Keys, Passwords tab, dropdown of Passwords:login

There are three keys:
- Ubuntu one token, once
- Desktop couch user authentication, twice

All three keys point to same application, "ubuntuone-client applet". All of the keys point to an unnamed application represented by "/usr/bin/python2.6". The key "Ubuntu one token" also points to a second application, "ubuntuone-syncdaemon".

There should be one account ("key"?) created for one site and ubuntuone has three.

The part of this complaint: "all of the applications point to the same path, /usr/bin/python2.6", is fixed in desktopcouch 0.5-0ubuntu1 . That's bug #451333.

The applications in question are "desktopcouch service" and "desktopcouch replication to Ubuntu One".

Bob,

These keys aren't the same thing.

- Ubuntu one token, once -- this is so your computer knows how to access the Ubuntu One cloud service, both for CouchDB replication and for file sharing
- Desktop couch user authentication -- this is so applications on your computer, such as Evolution's addressbook, know how to access desktopcouch on your computer

So they are for different purposes.

I don't know why you have *two* "Desktop couch user authentication" keys, though; there should only be one. How long have you been running karmic for? It is possible that the second key comes from an old installation of desktopcouch and we've since fixed the problem that made it get created.

I have been running Karmic since beta
and that still doesn't make sense because wouldnt the account login on local machine suffice as ubuntu one because it is loaded in file sys from login

I have stopped using the ubuntuone software because it is not built correctly in another ticket I have explained that this service is constantly attempting resync/sync and searches for drives which is incorrect
constantly in top every 1-2 seconds even if user not connected
this even happens if service on startup is not selected
also when theprefences>> bandwidth is adjusted settings do not save
all the issues seem to lead me to the understanding that the program must capture too much of the local system resources to run and/or is not build correct for 64bit systems

so what should people do, if they have *two* Desktop Couch user authentification keys??
Which is the one to delete?

or should people delete them both?
