Comment 18 for bug 136303

This same issue now occurs when upgrading from Karmic to Lucid (which uses Thunderbird 3). The user is prompted for what program they want to use to open http and https links.

It seems to me this should be handled by mime typing in all cases rather than Thunderbird's config itself.
