I've had this problem with both a fresh install and an upgrade to Hardy.

George Durbridge's and Phosgene's experience matches mine - using the network admin tool, sudo works ok without domain name, but can't sudo with a domain name.

Unfortunately, my 'workgroup' uses a domain name!
