That's where I don't agree. In Forum posts and Support sites etc, you find a lot of command-line commands, that you're advised to execute to install a certain package or just to execute something and post the output.
No visual feedback is just confusing.

I just don't see why its better to have no visual feedback.

Also when entering the pw when you login to a shell is not visible (not only sudo), and this gave me some trouble recently:
I had a problem with the graphic card driver and was in Textmode. Because of a problem with the driver or whatever, not every keystroke was accepted. I had to log in in text mode. for the username, I saw the characters, so i could retype a char if the keystroke wasn't accepted, but when entering the pw i had a real problem.

So, its not only useful for newbies
