This wasn't an actual package bug, but a transient I/O error experienced by dpkg, perhaps hardware related.

Preparing to replace python-qt4 4.6-1 (using .../python-qt4_4.7.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb) ...

No apport report written because the error message indicates a dpkg I/O error
