Bug Description

Binary package hint: python-launchpad-bugs

python-launchpad-bugs uses an old screen-scraping approach that predates the Launchpad API. I believe everything that can be done through launchpadbugs can now be done more reliably and possibly more efficiently through launchpadlib. (See for example bug 354985.) Over the support lifetime of Lucid this package will probably become more broken as Launchpad changes.

At minimum the package description should be updated to warn people not to use launchpadlib instead.

It might be better to remove this from lucid altogether, but that might need upstream-type changes to ubuntu-qa-tools and python-bughelper, which depend on it.

I reported bug 564020 regarding removing bughelper and have updated ubuntu-qa-tools not to depend on python-launchpadbugs. Thanks for reminding me of this and I agree it should be removed from 10.04 LTS.
