and volume is too loud in Karmic

I've fixed it by that
sudo gedit /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output.conf.common

change

[Element PCM]
switch = mute
volume = merge

to

volume = ignore

than set pcm in alsamixer to cca. 50%
