I can confirm this. I installed (from CD) Intreprid 2 days ago and audio worked. I run a "apt-get dist-upgrade" yesterday evening between 4 and 9pm utc.

I rebooted my notebook this morning. Alsa volume-controles where muted. Pulseaudio doesn't start anymore on boottime (it doesn't print any errors when i start it manually). Playing back stuff with alsa seems to work (no errors) but I don't hear anything.
