I am going to send a patch that reverts the change that broke ALSA to wine-patches (that only reverts the relevant part and cleans up some of the tracing logs). The change was made to fix a crash in the winmm:wave conformance tests. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15559 has my findings, but I haven't heard from Maarten yet to get any more details.

I would still like to know what is going on w.r.t. the winmm:wave crash, but that is a different issue.
