I uninstalled ooo and tried the openoffice 3.1 from openoffice.org site and it crashed on launch when trying to open a .doc file.

I uninstalled that, deleted the .openoffice folder and re-installed the ubuntu ooo package, and now openoffice has a windows 98 look & feel.

But, it doesn't crash when loading or saving a .doc file, with or without notes.
