I confirm that uninstalling the Ubuntu version of OpenOffice 3.1.1 and installing the native version from Openoffice.org the problem is gone. However, for those who prefer to wait until this bug is fixed in the Ubuntu repositories, and do not want to install non-ubuntu packages, BUT are in a *hurry* that requires a rapid but temporary solution, I found that the portable version of OpenOffice (for windows) seems to works well using wine, this version can be easily disposed afterwards.
