naphta, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. In Ubuntu 10.10 opened both files in libreoffice-calc and successfully saved to Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc) via at the Terminal:

cd ~/Destkop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/454545/+attachment/856017/+files/Andrea091018.odt && soffice -calc Andrea091018.odt && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/454545/+attachment/965854/+files/document.odt && soffice -calc document.odt
