When I experienced this behaviour some weeks ago in OOo 3.2.0 (in Fedora 12), I got rid of the slow responses by renaming the /user folder in ~/.openoffice.org/3/ (e.g. to user.old). However the behaviour is back now and I am not sure if doing the same renaming thing is working this time.
