Still unable to reproduce - I built a test Feisty machine in VirtualBox, fed F-Spot some photos, ran the upgrade cycle twice, and still couldn't produce a hang on exit.

What is special on your machines? What "wrong" file in your home directories is causing the issue?

Try this one:
for i in $(gconftool --all-dirs /apps/f-spot); do echo --$i:; gconftool -a $i; done
