I ran the 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' command you requested but it appeared like the OS was already updated to the latest lucid release as it reported

0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

when finished running the command. I then reran the hdparm command to check read speed but it continues to appear slow.
