Thanks for the Apport data. The udev monitor shows that there is no event for the actual partition (/dev/sdf1), just one for the drive (/dev/sdf). I'm going to make bug 621605 a duplicate, to keep this one (which has more decription) the main one.
Can you please remove the ipod, then do
udevadm monitor --kernel --property
then plug it in, let it settle, and copy&paste the entire ouput? (Note, you might need to scroll back). Thanks!
