i was trying to fix this issue for days with a rt2870 chipset. on kernel 2.6.32.21-generic on ubuntu 10.4,

the ra0 interface was uploaded and it could scan the networks, but it was impossible to connect.

I finnaly made it by leaving the RT2870STA.dat empty (with a #) and rebooting the system.

now it works fine...

damn ralink, horrible driver....
