Incidentally I've just checked and I have BIOS A04... could this be significant? Is it possible to upgrade BIOSs? I wouldn't have a clue about that...

Most likely, I would have thought, the E6510 has a few differences from the E6410.

I am afraid this is a case of the blind leading the blind. Someone else can probably enlighten more than me...
