I get basically this upon upgrading to 12.04. After resume Xorg says this:
[ 21452.322] (II) Open ACPI successful (/var/run/acpid.socket)
[ 21452.464] (II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "1920x1080_60_0"
[ 21453.909] (--) synaptics: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: touchpad found
[ 21456.409] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-03AF3717FF3AB439A4BAABA686CCB40771CDF520.xkm
and the fn key for enabling the trackpad makes a stateless notification icon appear, but otherwise it's just like the trackpad is permanently turned off.

Is there a newer bug I should be moving over to?
