The acpi off command doesn't work for me either.

Jeff looking further at these patches it seems that they are designed to be applied to the wireless-testing source. Another patch also recently surfaced to auto drop to PIO after DMA fail on the b43.

If I have time I will try to compile it, but I have little experiance of these things and will probably fail!
