@Alex, to check if this is easily SRUable for Maverick, could you repeat the test with a clean installation, that is:
1) Install Maverick
(Do NOT install daily ALSA snapshots)
2) Add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf <--- this line is new compared to the previous instruction
options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad
3) Reboot
4) Try again and indicate independently whether
- headphones are working
- internal mic is working
- external mic is working
SRUing this into Lucid is likely to be harder, since the ideapad model wasn't there at the time...
