I have absolutely no idea what that list exactly means but I can give the following information:
The webcam is functioning now. After my previous post I discovered that I didn't check the bottom box in the update manager enabling karmic-backports. I haven't had the opportuniy to test whether it is stable. When rebooting the computer (MSi Wind 100) the flickering remains to occur. Update manager tells me btw that my system is entirely up to date, using udev 6.1.
I will re-test on a later moment.
