It's not the failure to fix it I'm upset about. There's not anything the Ubuntu folk can really do other than report upstream. I know that. And I read that there already has been upstream discussion. It's the self deception, pretending that it's fixed that bothers me. Makes the fix rate look good though, doesn't it. I suspect that's what really matters.
If there is another bug report somewhere that says the problem has been reported upstream and awaits a fix then I owe an apology. But I haven't seen a link to any such report - I think the problem has been just made to go away. So there's nowhere I can keep watch on to see if there's ever any progress towards a fix. Because of course, it already IS fixed, isn't it?
