But I have noticed some weirdness going on
after installing that backports package.

When I plug-in the front headphone jack
the Gnome master volume goes to zero.
Not the alsamixer master volume but the
sound preferences volume on the top right
hand side of the Gnome desktop.

I can live with this but it might confuse
other users.
