I made mistake in instructions:
tar xf linux-2.6.29-rc*.tar.bz2
cd linux-2.6.29-rc*
make menuconfig
fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd kernel_image

I am now compiling rc2. Will tell the result in a few hours.
